Sensitive Skin | Cauliflower Hemp Soup

When it comes to true sensitive skin, what we put in our bodies is so important. Every day I see my toughest client ( aka my boyfriend) battle psoriasis. Psoriasis is a sensitive skin disorder where the body overproduces skin. Anyone who does not have psoriasis produces new skin cells every 29-45 days. Some who have psoriasis are producing new skin cells almost every 4 days. Their skin then builds up and looks like a silvery red rash, which is so itchy for the person living within this skin.

There are nearly eight million people in the US alone that live with psoriasis. You may know one of those eight million people who live with psoriasis, her name is Kim Kardashian. Many times psoriasis is treated with steroids and creams that help momentarily and can cause damage to the liver over time. It is an immune disorder linked to the gut, it requires a lifestyle change to truly heal this sensitive skin disorder.

Cauliflower Hemp Soup

CoQ10 | cauliflower: antioxidant that helps fight damage from free radical damage

Curcumin | turmeric: soothes and reduces inflammation

Omega 3 and 6 | hemp seeds: locks in moisture

Cauliflower Soup

Serves:5

Ingredients:

  • 1 head cauliflower (roughly chopped)

  • 1/2 yellow sweet onion (diced)

  • 2 clove of garlic (minced)

  • 1 tsp Turmeric

  • 32 oz low sodium vegetable broth

  • 1/4 cup hemp hearts

  • dash of salt and pepper

     

Instructions:

  1. In a pot on medium heat add onions, let cook for 2 minutes before adding garlic. Allow garlic and onion to cook for 1 minute before adding cauliflower. Cook for 10 minutes

  2. Add in 32 oz of low sodium vegetable broth and turmeric bring to simmer and cook for 15 minutes.

  3. Slowly stir in hemp seeds, allow to cook for 5 minutes.

  4. Let cool before blending

  5. Enjoy!
